We now have two great online guides for finding movies in the library’s collection. One guide is for browsing titles by movie genre such as Action, History, Sports, etc… and the other is an alphabetical listing of films in our collection.
We hope you’ll discover lots of films that you want to watch. Thanks to our library staff member, Lauren Havens, for all of her hard work creating these new resources.

: The Durham Tech Academic Calendar at http://www.durhamtech.edu/html/prospective/calendar.htm tells us that fall break for students is almost here! During fall break, the Durham Tech ERC main campus library will operate on a reduced schedule, from 8:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday October 11 and Friday October 12, then closed on Saturday October 13. No classes are in session during this time, so the ERC library computer lab will be closed Thursday and Friday and no free printing will be available. You will be able to print upstairs for 5 cents a page (25 cents a page for color) as usual. Also during this time, the OCC library and the NDC library will be closed starting Thursday October 11. Regular hours will resume at all locations on Monday October 15. Have a great break, and see you then!

Welcome to the Durham Tech Library blog!
I have been a librarian at Durham Tech since October 1989. In the past year, we have made significant improvements to the library space. Some of these, such as a library classroom and better soundproofing, have been needed since the library opened in 1987.
In addition to new paint and carpet, we created a large group study room (learning commons), doubled the size of the computer lab to create a library instruction classroom/open computer lab, and added acoustical panels and sound masking. We also replaced all the chairs in the library.
It is our hope that students with all learning styles can find a comfortable place to study in the library.
According to the network administrator for the college, a greatly improved wireless network will be in place by the end of 2011.
