While our downstairs stacks may be closed, the Durham Tech Library is open to get your books to you.
Whether fiction or nonfiction, we’ve got options!
Know what you want and already have a library account? You can search our catalog or use Search Library and put a hold on a book yourself. (Have trouble? Let us know. Your Durham Tech Library account might need updating.)
Faculty or staff who have had a library account for a long time may need to add DTCC in front of their Alternate ID.
Feel free to email us (library@durhamtech.edu or a specific librarian) the titles of the books you want. If they’re in our collection and checked in, we’ll grab them from the shelves and arrange a time for you to pick them up. (This is actually what we prefer, but we support your independence if you want to do it yourself.)
Interlibrary loan (ILL) is available from most of the community colleges we share our catalog with, so if Durham Tech doesn’t have it, we may be able to get it for you. Just ask!

What if you don’t know what you want? Ask us! You can either email a specific librarian or email the general library email account (library@durhamtech.edu). Some things to think about: What type of book are you looking for? Do you want it to make you feel a certain way (hopeful, happy, sad, etc.)? Do you like certain styles of books (lyrical, fast-paced, descriptive, character-driven, romantic, dystopian, magical)? Are you trying to complete one of the categories from the Read Great Things 2020 Challenge and you need suggestions?

Want to look for your own books? NoveList, one of our databases, can help you pick. Log in using the same username and password as you’d use for Sakai or Self-Service.

General library hours for both the Main and Orange County Campus libraries can be found on the Library homepage (scroll below the boxes). Hours may change through the semester, but will be updated on the webpage and on the pinned blog post about Fall 2020 Library Services.
Once you’ve either emailed your request or put a hold on your books, we’ll contact you to set up a time to pick them up. Books coming from other campuses may take additional time to arrive. We are not doing curbside services– you will need to come into the library (and complete the daily check-in to get the secret daily password and bring a photo ID) to get your books.
