Community Pride
The first Pride march – the Christopher Street Liberation Day March – was held in New York City on June 28th, 1970 on the one-year anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. North Carolina’s first march, “Our Day Out,” took place on June 27, 1981 in Durham in response to anti-gay violence.
