Library Year in Review

See text below.

The Durham Tech Library accomplished a lot this year! We held 72 class instruction sessions in the library to teach 1221 students about information literacy, citations, and how to use our resources. Between the big windows and the stands on the lower level we put up 31 themed displays. Nine hundred and forty-seven new books and DVDs were added to our collection, and that doesn’t even include donations from a variety of generous individuals. In cooperation with NC LIVE, we’ve added 59 new databases and a new discovery service to search them all at once.

Our partnership with the Student Government Association enabled us to hand out 300 pocket-sized copies of the U.S. Constitution for Constitution Day. We also gave out 200 solar eclipse glasses in a community building event as we witnessed astronomy in action.

Our other SGA partnership, Crafternoons, took off with seven different session and 176 participants. We made paper wreaths, painted rocks and pumpkins, did wool felting, and more.

We can’t wait to continue next year!
