The library is excited to announce that we now have a total of 254 loaner laptops (Dell and Acer) for students to borrow for the semester.
Students who need a computer and who are currently enrolled in any Durham Tech course are eligible to complete the Computer Request Form to apply. Maggie West, Coordinator of Student Wellness and Basic Needs, receives all applications and will assess if a Chromebook will work or other options are available to meet current academic needs. Students who need PCs or help with internet access can use the same form to request tech help.
Eligible students can borrow a Chromebook for an entire semester and can be renewed if a student remains enrolled. For more information, visit Durham Tech’s Computer and Internet Assistance for Students page.
Durham Tech is also providing basic computer skills assistance and computer tutoring through the Center for Academic Excellence (CAE).
Call 919-694-7084 or email cae@durhamtech.edu to make an appointment.
Students may also request tutoring using the online request form. Please fill out the information as completely as you can, in order to be paired with an appropriate tutor.
CAE tutors can help students with formatting papers, utilizing spell check and other tools in Microsoft Office, navigating and using Sakai, using Connectmail, saving and finding files, opening and searching web browsers, scanning, printing, and more!
Current CAE Computer Skills Tutoring and Tech Help hours are
Monday: 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Tuesday/Wednesday: 12 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Thursday: 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.

The loaner laptop program and tutoring program are generously supported by grant funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) as administered by the State Library of North Carolina, a division of the NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (IMLS grant number LS-246155-OLS-20). CARES Act funds also supported these projects.
